As we age we lose volume from several areas in our face. This contributes to the sagging and wrinkles that develop with time. The injectable fillers most commonly used today are made of a material called hyaluronic acid, which is a naturally occuring component of skin. These fillers are used to restore lost volume and rejuvenate the face, smoothing both deep and fine lines. Most common treatments include adding volume the cheeks, filling the nasolabial folds above the mouth (parenthesis lines), and plumping the lips. Filler can also be used many other places, like to fill hollow temples and restore volume to thinning ear lobes. It can even be used to help straighten a crooked nose.
